The view out our front door, yes, really!
|
All this and brekkie too, where does the joy end?
OMFG, how awesome is this place. Rhetoric of course, it is hard to describe in words and pictures struggle to convey the reality of how majestic Santorini really is.
It was the late John Denver who sang the lyric
"some days are diamonds some days are stone", well this particular day was diamonds baby!

And here is the front door to our room, sure is pretty ain't it

Gina was surfing bookings.com for a place to stay in Santorini and butter me on both sides if there wasn't a deal for a room in Oia, normally priced at A$1,511 for 3 nights reduced to A$347!! Quicker than a fat kid to ice-cream, we booked it. I can only say that this morning we were gob-smacked at the beauty of the view from our room. We are truly privileged to have had this opportunity and remind ourselves regularly of our good fortune.
We have spent our first day in Santorini just getting to know the piece of paradise we find ourselves in. The streets are cobble, the stairs plentiful and steep, and occasional donkey-doo waiting for the unwary to step in. Yes really, donkey's. the do the heavy lifting around here. Funny I felt like an ass carrying suitcases down stairs in the dark last night.

Oia, Santorini in it's glory, just magic

Gina looking as beautiful as ever
There are just too many photos to choose from and thank goodness for the digital camera as so far, every direction is truly a Kodak moment. If there is heaven on earth, Santorini must come close.
Anyway, off to dinner shortly for the catch of the day.
