Day 3 16/3/14 Acropokis, Parthenon & Plaka

Kalimera..... Another leisurely start to a glorious 20 degree day in Athens. No distractions today setting off to the Acropolis for the amazing experience and birds eye view over Athens. We now see why Greeks make great stonemasons, concreters, etc!. I wouldn't describe it a beautiful city, but it is huge. Reminds us of Almaty, Kazakhstan in the 90's. Not sure the Greeks would like to hear that!. Plaka is definitely the highlight of Athens to date, and our odyssey continues. We are enjoying Athens enough to have extended a couple of days here. In the words of the Greek philosopher Con.....the fruiterer, "coupla days, doesn't matta".

True to form, Gina led us to a seedy part of town and even witnessed a police raid on an Arab district, looked like they were doing a passport check. We watched our backs!

Almost forgot. every Greek we speak to seems to have a relative in Melbourne, who knew?
He slept with one eye open, ever wary
Like many great explorers, Andrew was totally lost!
Another unfinished project, a casualty of the Greek financial crisis
A hard earned thirst needs a big, cold Mythos
