Today we set off on a tour of Naxos. We armed ourselves with a map, a rent-a-car and off we went. The island is not that big so we were able to cover they key sites within the day and 200 or so kilometres.
We drove for miles and miles up those twisted mountain roads, higher and higher we climbed (Bob Seger). We travelled through Potamia, Kouros, Chalki, Filoti, Apranthos, Stavros, Skado, Mesi, Apollonas, Abram, Eggares and Galini.
Through all of these we visited, Venetian villages, one-goat towns, a marble quarry, countless goat, potato and olive farms, all with individual charm.

| Sofia creating awesomeness |
So now the piece de resistance, Sofia invited us to dinner at her home with her family. Now this is not a regular event for guests at Galazia Studios, rather it is a bit as quiet here, and we hit it off, just lovely. We were firstly introduced to Sofia's parents on the drive over, then to Sofia's home where we met her son and daughter, both on the fly out of the house for the evening, nothing stands in the way of football here!. We then settled down to a simply awesome spread prepared by Sofia and her husband Yiannis, and accompanied by family friend Loukia. We spoke of travel, politics, animals, Australian-Greek relations, etc, etc. Fundamentally, all over the world, we are all the same. Too much beautiful food was eaten, litres of very good home-made wine consumed, plus the obligatory raki, and in all, a wonderful night had by us, and hopefully Sofia and family. We were made so welcome and what an experience to be invited into someones home like this.

| Can you believe this is for us? |
So the meal, BBQ whole mackrell, octopus, potatoes, tarama, lentils, mountain greens, fennel fritters, salad and probably more I missed. For sweets, halva, sweet potato and bergamot.
This was all an unexpected surprise in our Greek odyssey.
